Breton stripes have been a staple for a while. They are breezy and fun and suggest frolics on the deck of an old yacht. But at LCM there was a very noticeable move from designers like Topman Design and Agi & Sam towards bolder, thicker stripes. I enjoyed it. I’ve often thought that Dennis the Menace is under-appreciated as a style muse. One thing that I really like about tops with big stripes is their versatility - on their own, they’re very casual, but stick ‘em under a navy blazer and you’re ready for anything e.g. a hideous work event where the dress code is something along the lines of ‘Smart, fun and glamorous’.
