It's not long now until London Fashion Week descends upon us. For me, Fashion Week isn't solely about the shows but everything that surrounds it, including the shop openings, digital firsts and street style influences that collide to create the excitement that London is celebrated for. Here's all you need to know, from the hottest tickets to what this show-goer needs in her survival kit.
New names to know
London is famous for its emerging talent and rightly so. Friday 20th is warm-up day when all eyes are on the newbies. Look out for Fashion East, Shrimps, Molly Goddard and Le Kilt, the fledging line by Samantha McCoach based around handmade Scottish kilts. They're already stocked in Dover Street Market, which is a major stamp of approval.
The Golden Tickets
The must-get show tickets are J.W. Anderson and Christopher Kane, current toasts of the London scene who have both raised investment from international powerhouses. (Look out for Christopher Kane's debut store opening in March.) Where they lead, the high street inevitably follows. This season also sees a return to the London schedule from Gareth Pugh to celebrate his tenth year in business. Bringing the buzz beyond the catwalk is an accompanying exhibition, now on at the Galleria Melissa store in Covent Garden. Meanwhile, a contender for most desirable party ticket is the Browns Focus X Ashley Williams X Coca Cola party. Why? Because Williams is one of our coolest new names, whose fun, pop culture references have already gathered a cult, insider following. Plus, her best pals include the likes of Pixie Geldof, guaranteeing crucial front-page coverage.
